\nOn the Japanese Honda site there are a number of so-called Fact Books. These are short, a little advertising-like brochures with some interesting information. Honda has also made a few about some four-stroke mopeds, but because they are only released in Japanese, they are not understandable for the average Dutchman. We at De Fourstrokebarn have done our best to make the best possible translation of what Fact Books. Translation errors are subject to change. Some sentences come across as a bit cheesy,<\/em> because fact books are mainly marketing. Below information about the Honda Ape<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Honda Ape 50<\/strong><\/p>\n

Introduction<\/strong>
\nHonda’s new design philosophy for motorcycles for the 21st century consists of three parts: mobile,<\/em> module <\/em>and modify.<\/em> Together, this will ensure that Honda maintains a good relationship with the ever-expanding market. The light FTR motorcycle was a first step in the right direction and has been successfully received by the public. Honda has been able to apply the three above elements even more strongly in their new super light bike: the Ape 50.
\nIn order not to cause confusion, we will explain the three terms again:
\n-Mobile: a bond is formed between the drivers of the new engines.
\n-Module: the motorcycle fits within an active lifestyle.<\/em>
\n-Modify: The motorcycle can be adjusted to the taste of the driver.<\/p>\n

Development and concept<\/strong>
\nThe basic fifty<\/em> (the simple moped) was the key word during the development of the Ape. He was going to get a 50cc block and there should be no unnecessary frills on it. Only the things that make an engine an engine are applied to the Ape. Functionality and fun are the most important qualities that the Ape must have and the driver will be able to use both aspects in daily life. The fact that the cylinder capacity is 50cc means that it can also be ridden with a car or moped licence and will therefore appeal to an even larger part of the consumer market. For the experienced rider, he will mainly show where the pleasure of the engine comes from, while the technique is also adapted for newcomers. After learning to drive on an Ape, it is easy to switch to a heavier model.<\/p>\n

The name<\/strong>
\nApe is English for ape. We gave our new motorcycle this name, because it is a funny name that sounds attractive to a large group of people. It’s also a nod to the Monkey.<\/p>\n

Design<\/strong>
\nWhen designing a friendly looking engine, it is important that you keep it simple. The upright motor block, wide handlebar and round tank give the Ape a balanced and basic appearance. Because the engine is short, has wide tires and is high on its legs, it is still tough and impressive on the road.
\nThe design of the Ape is intended to match different flavors. It is timeless and fits within the current requirements of the consumer.<\/p>\n

\nThe Ape is equipped with a variant of the XR80R block. It is adapted to environmental requirements by mounting a good carburetor and a 50cc cylinder. This also ensures that the Ape offers sufficient traction in all speeds.<\/p>\n

To get the most out of the Ape, he has a five-speed gearbox. The well thought-out ratios ensure smooth acceleration.<\/p>\n

Suspension and tires <\/strong>
\nTogether with the Pro-Link swingarm and spring, the upright fork ensures a comfortable and smooth handling that is suitable for driving in the city. Unevenness is absorbed without the whole thing becoming mopy.<\/p>\n

The wide bands with block pattern make good use of the suspension.<\/p>\n

Frame<\/strong>
\nThe tube frame that makes up the Ape has a diamond shape in the middle for optimal firmness. Due to the space between the different tubes, there is also plenty of space to customize.<\/p>\n

Sitting position<\/strong>
\nThe seating position is very comfortable thanks to the wide handlebar and low saddle and offers a lot of room for movement. The low saddle also contributes to the manageability: you can put your feet on the ground at the traffic light and easily at the brake and shift poker.<\/p>\n
