Fact Book: New Type Super Cub

Fact Book: New Type Super Cub
On the Japanese Honda site there are a number of so-called Fact Books. These are short, a little advertising-like brochures with some interesting information. Honda has also made a few about some four-stroke mopeds, but because they are only released in Japanese, they are not understandable for the average Dutchman. We at De Fourstrokebarn have done our best to make the best possible translation of what Fact Books. Unfortunately, that has not been possible everywhere. Translation errors are subject to change. Some sentences come across as a bit cheesy, because fact books are mainly marketing.

This brochure is about the new type (NT) Super Cub, as it was it in Japan in 1981. It is mainly about the improvements compared to the old type.

Background info
To catch on to the modern market, a 50 cc’s must also be economical. To achieve this, we have increased combustion efficiency, but the power has also increased. We have applied the knowledge we have built up in recent times, reducing consumption to 105 km per litre. For a time when economy is important, the Super Cub is a perfect solution.

Honda developed the Chaly (1972) and Road Pal (1976) with a focus on the femaleHandlebar On the other hand, fuel consumption, maintenance costs, durability, rideability and space use were also considered. This is because that is part of a light Honda motorcycle or moped. These principles also fit a “business bike” such as the Super Cub. Thanks in particular to the four-stroke engine, this is achieved and the Chaly and Super Cub score well with the audience and the critics. Because of its previous innovations, Honda was expected to improve its four-stroke engines even more and it has succeeded: with the 50 cc, the noise level and consumption are even Bearing and the durability has increased further. The new engine forms the basis for a new generation of Super Cub.

In 1958, Honda launched the first Super Cub (C100) with a 50 cc four-stroke engine that delivered good performance. The underbone frame and leggings made it something unique at the time. The engine was something special in its class. Some European brands also had a moped with four-stroke motor in their range, but these did not come close to the Super Cub in terms of durability and power.
From the beginning, the Super Cub uses technology that meets the requirements of the buyer. The basics always remain the same, but slowly the Super Cub evolves to keep up with the times. Super Cub is the most produced and sold motorcycle in the world and for about eighty countries the best option out there. People have confidence in our products.

To ensure that people keep this trust, we move with the times and have made the new Super Cub more economical and faster.

Features of the new Super Cub

engine
The new engine has more power and is more economical. We have achieved this with a few improvements:
– Improvement of combustion: in order to ensure that the fuel mixture burns as well as possible, the combustion chamber in the cylinder head and the shape of the piston are adjusted in such a way that everything is burned and hardly any energy escapes in the form of heat.
– Improvement of the suction: the shape of the inlet channel is now such that the mixture runs smoothly through it without being slowed down.
– Reduction of resistance: the piston and camshaft now have a smaller resistance. In addition, some parts have been illuminated and betterBearingd. Together, this ensures a more efficient gait and less noise.

Style
In the basics, the current Super Cub is almost the same as the original of 1958. The frame, wheels, four-stroke engine; It all still looks like his ancestor. The biggest adjustment in appearance is the larger leg shield. This covers better than the older type, so that driving in bad weather becomes a more pleasant experience.

The figures
Both consumption and power have improved:
– C50 consumption: 105 km / L (at 30 km / h). Power: 4.5 hp at 7500 rpm.
– C70 consumption: 75 km / L (at 50 km / h). Power: 5.7 hp at 7000 rpm.

DistributionChain, drivetensioner
The new Chain, drivetensioner works hydraulically, so you never have to tension the Chain, drive yourself again.

Doortrapbak
A new type of gearbox makes driving easier and safer. Shifting now follows a rotation pattern: to move to the next gear, push the shift lever down until it comes back to neutral. a different system ensures that it is not possible to switch from three to neutral while driving, but while standing still.

Link
Thanks to the use of hinged arms instead of rolls that run in lanes, the operation of the coupling has been improved. it is now even more solid and driving away is smoother.

Throttle
The throttle has been modernized and works smoother and more reliable. The gas feeling is also better.

Petrol meter
C70 and C90 now have a petrol meter as standard.

Cdi
From now on, the Super Cub has electronic ignition (CDI), so no more points and capacitors.
