The Super Cub, with more than 100 million copies produced, is the world’s best-selling small motor vehicle. In the case of the Cheap Urban Bike (Cub), the attribute “small” mainly refers to the cylinder content, while Europeans are more likely to think of the minibikes Monkey and Dax when hearing the term. Gerfried Vogt-Möbs dedicates himself to all three models (and other foothills) in his book “Little Honda – the legendary small motorcycles”.
It soon becomes clear when reading that the work to come to this book is done differently than usual. It takes a few pages for the model name to be mentioned for the first time in the history of super cub development. Why the 50 cc bike introduced in 1958 was called the C 100 is not mentioned. Then it goes all the faster: the large number of variants that the book lists for the most diverse countries remains impressive. Most of the more than 290 (!) images show the Cub and many other specimens. The author covers a wide range of the development to the different variants and current replicas from China to the collector, tuning and fan scene.

The section on the CZ 100 as a precursor to the minibikes and the Ape starts with the portrait of a collector. Models are approached with atmospheric images in this book. The chapter on the trail models of the Super Cub, which are especially popular in the US, is introduced. Elsewhere we read to get you in the mood: “On 21 April 1968 it was drizzling in Whyle, a small English village in the county of Wiltshire. For Daniel Nash, there’s no reason not to inaugurate his latest acquisition, a Honda P 50, on this day… “
It is nice that the mini-bike trials of European competitors are also mentioned briefly. It is a pity that the photos of the models of Hercules or Solo are already a few pages in front of the accompanying text passage but the author of this very nice book is forgiven.

As mentioned above, the author did not limit himself to the information from the various magazines when making this book. it is also actually visited Kjell of the Fourstrokebarn and several pages (pages 168 to 175) are dedicated to this company. In the short term, the book will also be released in english and from that moment on it will also be available to order via Kjell.
The book “Little Honda” is extremely extensive. Those who, as bikeenthusiast, have had little or nothing to do with the legendary small engines will, after reading them, in many cases have aroused their interest. And if your interest has been aroused, visit Kjell to browse among the more than a hundred Hondas it has
