Diedes custom Novio project part 2.

In the last few weeks I have continued with my Novio project. By the way, if you want to see the progress yourself, you can always stop by the barn.
The first step was to confirm the rear fender (I had already told this in my first story, but because I hadn’t really explained it yet) , because that seemed easy and quick to do. The SS fender I used was of course a lot wider and had different suspension points than the original Novio fender. A solution was quickly found: on the front I could attach the fender to the same holes as where a normal fender is attached. Bolt through and it was stuck. At the top, it was a little trickier. I think normally the fender is stuck there with some kind of hook, but of course my coolmudguard doesn’t. To solve that, there is a bolt through the holes where the luggage rack should actually be. The height of this was just right and the bolt sticks neatly through the eyes of the SS spatula. Pieces of petrol hose over the bolt push the place into the middle, keeping it nicely seated.
Then I went to mount a swingarm. This became a regular Novio-Achterbrug, because of courseitthat fits the easiest and it is really strong enough for the C50AT block, which of course delivers more power than a stuttering iron motor.Swingarm

The rear wheel was a little more hassle: a C-rear wheel and axle fit without any problems, but the Swingarm was too wide. A few custom-sawn buses offered a solution. The brakePanel, brake has yet to be secured. I think I’m going to do that by putting a blind eye on the Swingarm

After the back was fine, I proceeded with the fork. This was a lot simpler than I expected. The Bearings at the bottom fell into place without any problems and also at the top the original Bearings fitted in combination with the original bolt. The only thing that wasn’t right was the length of the steering stempen. This has been extended by cutting off a piece of thread from anSteering stem and screwing it on top of the steering stempen by means of a long nut. It seems to be firm, so hopefully that won’t cause any further problems. (here still without extension)

After this, I picked a Seat That has become a leather BrooksSeat which not only looks very good, but also sits very nicely. With a normal NovioSeat the pen is attached to the Seat whereas with a bicycleSeat, as I have, is not the case. In addition, the diameter of a bicycleSeatpen is smaller than that of a Noof. Now I have rammed a piece of pipe of the right diameter for a Novio into the frame and in that piece of pipe another tube, which is the right size for the Seat and that fits perfectly.

One problem I’m solving right now is the front wheel: because the Front Fork is made for a PBR wheel with scitfrem, it has no need to hold an old-fashioned Honda drum brake in place. You could then use a rear wheel and attach the brakePanel, brake to the points where normally the claw for the scitfrem is stuck, but then again you do not have a counter drive. However, mopeds such as the C320 and C310 have the counter drive on the right. So a C320 wheel with brakePanel, brake of a rear wheel and the C320 counter drive would be a solution, we thought. The front wheel axle is only made for wheels with a coolfront axle and the fork as well, while the C320 has a 10mm axle. Luckily Klaas can turn buses for me to make the 10mm axle fit well into the 16mm hole of the fork and it can finally roll.

I also picked a block now. Together with Klaas I opened that up and everything still looks pretty neat. When it is re-assembled, the block suspension must be adjusted. Kjell said it still has a crooked frame where I get to steal the block suspension, so hopefully I can get started on that in a couple of weeks.
